Here at the Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu Association we aim to provide world class Brazilian Jiujitsu instruction, sound and proven business advice in addition to lifestyle mentorship for all who are seeking it. We do this in conjunction with creating a BJJ community with a positive attitude and healthy common goals.
Our Journey
For over five decades, Master Carlos Machado and The Machado Brothers have dedicated their lives to the mastery and dissemination of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). As nephews of one of the founders of BJJ, the late Master Carlos Gracie, they were immersed in the art from an early age, learning directly from Grandmaster Helio Gracie at the legendary Gracie Academy. The Machados not only share a rich lineage in BJJ but also embody the philosophy of humility and service, advocating the principle of “LEAVE YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR”.
Our Achievements
Each of the Machado Brothers has carved out a significant place in the world of BJJ, securing National, Pan-American, ADCC, and World titles. Their influence extends beyond the mat, with appearances in TV shows, motion pictures, and numerous features in martial arts magazines worldwide.
Master Carlos Machado and The Machado Brothers have also contributed to the BJJ community through instructional books, DVDs, and documentaries, emphasizing their mission to share the best of BJJ with the world.

Master Carlos Machado is one of the pioneers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the United States of America. Currently an 8th degree Coral Belt, Master Carlos Machado came to the USA in the early 1990’s with his brothers. After many years of leadership and growth, Master Carlos Machado has formed the Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu Association: one of the strongest and fastest growing BJJ organizations in the world today.
Today, Master Carlos Machado is a Hall of Fame instructor of Jiu-Jitsu and known in Texas and the Southwest region of The United States as the “Godfather of Jiu-Jitsu”. Before Master Carlos Machado relocated to the Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas area, nobody there was teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Today most of the BJJ lineage in the Southwest can be traced back to Master Carlos Machado.

Located in North Dallas, Carrollton, Texas, Master Carlos Machado’s renowned academy serves students of all ages and genders, with a focus on comprehensive development under his expert guidance. Known for his hands-on training approach, especially with his black belts, Machado’s influence extends beyond his academy, marking him as a distinguished figure in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).
Master Machado has successfully coached numerous BJJ athletes to professional competitiveness and awarded black belts to high-profile practitioners, including Rafael Lovato Jr., Travis Lutter, Anthony Perosh, and Elvis Sinosic, contributing significantly to MMA and BJJ communities. These accomplishments underscore his role in founding one of the most acclaimed BJJ academies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
As an 8th degree Coral Belt, family man, and leader of the Master Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu Association—one of the world’s largest BJJ organizations—Master Carlos Machado’s vision is to enhance the “Average Student” beyond mediocrity. He commits to empowering his instructors with comprehensive mentorship, fostering excellence within and beyond the academy, ensuring the success and growth of Master Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu Academies globally.
